Already, the former Chelsea boss is drawing statistical comparisons with Avram Grant, who relegated West Ham in 2010/2011. Bar the Israeli, Potter has recorded the club’s worst ever win percentage in the Premier League (26.1 per cent), and this dismal number is only overshadowed by their leaky backline.

West Ham have conceded 13 goals in the top flight already this season, with seven of them coming from set plays. Their failure to deal with dead balls is a major theme of their reoccurring struggles under Potter, and if it wasn’t for a surprise 3-0 win away to Nottingham Forest, he’d perhaps be gone already.

Nevertheless, Potter is being given more time to turn things around at West Ham, but not much at all.

The Hammers take on David Moyes’ Everton this weekend, and their ex-managerial hero has a real chance to put one of the final nails in Potter’s coffin before West Ham travel to title-chasing Arsenal.

In the meantime, David Sullivan, Karren Brady and the rest of West Ham’s divisive board are making contingency plans to replace Potter.

Insiders claim Nuno Espirito Santo is considering an offer from West Ham after talks with both Brady and Sullivan, while ex-Irons defender and manager Slaven Bilic is already planning his backroom in the event he is chosen for the hot seat (ExWHUemployee).

Another ex-player in Gary O’Neil is also one of the favourites to potentially succeed Potter, but West Ham are not limited to just free agents.

Reports suggest Burnley boss Scott Parker has been discussed as an option by high-ranking West Ham officials (GiveMeSport), so it would appear the east Londoners are seriously assessing candidates right now.

According to ExWHUemployee, despite all the uncertainty surrounding his position, Potter is presenting a united front to his squad.

The insider reports that Potter held a meeting with West Ham players and staff, where he delivered a motivational speech in an attempt to galvanise the team. Ex also says that the 50-year-old is “almost certain” to take charge of the Everton game, with a P45 far more likely after they take on Arsenal.

With the ex-Brighton boss on the verge of a contract termination, Nuno is West Ham’s obvious best bet.

That blend of defensive organisation and counter-attacking is exactly what West Ham are crying out for right now, with Nuno also helping to fix Nottingham Forest’s set-piece weakness during his time at the City Ground.

At Forest last season, Nuno again proved his credentials. He steadied a club that looked in danger of sliding, galvanised the squad, got the very best out of his players and gave his former side a real identity.

All of this culminated in European qualification for the first time since 1995, and following Moyes’ era, a return to Europe is exactly what West Ham are aiming for too.

The sky is blue, the grass is green, and Chelsea endeavour to get themselves another red card.

It was Joao Pedro’s turn to get himself sent off against Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but fortunately, it was late enough in the game to have no real impact.

Before the Brazilian was given his marching orders, the Conference League champions were fighting to hold onto their 1-0 lead, and while it wasn’t a vintage performance, that is just what they did.

With that said, there were a few players who struggled to make an impact, including one who was massively outshone by Pedro Neto and should be dropped for the weekend.

In the build-up to the game, former Chelsea manager, and arguably the greatest in the club’s history, José Mourinho, described Neto as “one of the best wingers in the world.”

While such praise is probably a little over the top, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star made sure not to disappoint his fellow countryman with his performance.

The rapid winger didn’t score a goal or produce an assist in the match, but it was his cross to Alejandro Garnacho that preceded the Argentine’s cross, which ended in an own goal for the visitors.

However, it wasn’t just that one ball, as the dynamic 25-year-old was a constant threat down the wing and most certainly had the beating of his opposite man.

Unsurprisingly, the Blues’ “unsung hero,” as Joe Cole dubbed him during TNT’s coverage, also left an impression on the watching press, as football.london’s Bobby Vincent awarded him an 8/10 match rating at full-time.

In all, while it wasn’t necessarily the toughest of opponents or the most perfect of displays, Neto more than did his part in Chelsea’s win and simply has to start the next game, unlike another attacker he totally outshone.

While much of the Chelsea team put in middling to good performances against Benfica, some struggled to make a positive impact, like Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

However, those two were only given 30 minutes to try to influence the game, so you can forgive them for underwhelming on the night, which is an excuse that cannot be extended to Tyrique George.

Maresca handed the Cobham graduate his second start of the campaign, but instead of scoring a goal and providing an assist like he did against Lincoln City, he was practically anonymous.

Unsurprisingly, his statistics more than justify such an appraisal, as in 61 minutes of action, the youngster amassed a combined expected goal and assists figure of 0.13, took one shot on target, completed eight passes, took just 15 touches, didn’t complete a pass and didn’t play a single key pass.

The London-born gem is clearly a talented player; his youth numbers, cameos last season, and performance last week suggest as much, but it’s crystal clear that he’s not someone who can lead the line for Chelsea.

Therefore, to improve the team and for George’s own sake, Maresca should take him out of the starting lineup for the game against Liverpool this weekend.

Digvesh Rathi, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner, has breached the IPL’s Code of Conduct for a third time this season, leaving him suspended for one game alongside a 50% fine of his match fee. Rathi picked up the infraction in LSG’s home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), following his dismissal of Abhishek Sharma.The incident happened in the eighth over of the chase after Rathi dismissed Abhishek. He gave the batter a send-off with a wave and an entry in his “notebook” which was followed by an exchange of words with the batter, needing the intervention of umpire Michael Gough. Rathi has now accumulated five demerit points for the season, due to which the suspension has kicked in. He will miss LSG’s next game against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday.Rathi’s five demerit points this season are all under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. According to the code, four demerit points add up to one suspension point, meaning players are forced to sit out one match when that mark is reached. Since the demerit points remain on an individual’s record for a period of 36 months, Rathi will have to be careful even in the upcoming seasons, since eight demerit points would result in a two-game suspension and 11 demerit points would result in a three-game suspension.Rathi had earlier picked up one demerit point for his celebration and charge towards Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) Priyansh Arya on April 1 and two demerit points for his celebration against Naman Dhir of Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 4, both involving his “notebook” send off. Kevin tinha 18 anos naquela época e estava a poucos dias de fazer história pelo Verdão. Isso porque, em janeiro de 2022, ele fez parte do grupo que venceu a tão sonhada Copinha, conquista inédita para o clube. O garoto não era titular, mas atuou em oito dos nove jogos daquela edição e ainda marcou um gol.

No ano seguinte, Kevin voltou a disputar a Copinha pelo Palmeiras, mas dessa vez como destaque do time, uma vez que a grande maioria dos companheiros de 2022, como Endrick, Jhon Jhon e Giovani, já haviam deixado o sub-20. E ele não decepcionou. Com cinco gols e cinco assistências em oito jogos, ele foi eleito o craque da competição que foi conquistada novamente pelo Verdão.

O protagonismo foi apenas mais um elemento para que os clubes europeus crescessem os olhos para cima da Cria da Academia. O Shakhtar Donetsk-UCR chegou a oferecer 10 milhões de euros (R$ 56,4 milhões na cotação da época) depois de ter duas propostas recusadas pelo Alviverde. No entanto, os valores não convenceram os dirigentes palmeirenses, que creem que o garoto vale mais do que isso.

A questão é que o Palmeiras tem apenas 50% dos direitos do jogador, e os outros 50% pertencem aos Desportivo Brasil, que faz jogo duro diante da busca alviverde por comprar mais 20% do atleta. فينيسيوس يتعرض باستمرار إلى العديد من الانتقادات على مدار الموسمين الأخيرين على وجه الخصوص، في ظل مناوشاته الكثيرة مع الخصوم وتصرفاته داخل وخارج المستطيل الأخضر.

وازدادت حدة الانتقادات الموجهة إلى فينيسيوس، بعدما اعترض اللاعب على تبديله خلال مواجهة ريال مدريد وبرشلونة في كلاسيكو الدوري الإسباني يوم الأحد الماضي، ولم يصافح المدرب تشابي ألونسو.

كما احتك فينيسيوس مع لامين يامال، نجم نادي برشلونة، عقب نهاية المباراة وكاد أن يدخل في شجار معه بالأيدي.

ويرى مهاجم إشبيلية وأتلتيكو مدريد السابق، سالفا باييستا، أن فينيسيوس يحتاج إلى وجود لاعب ذو شخصية قيادية في تشكيلة ريال مدريد خلال الفترة المقبلة.

وقال باييستا في تصريحات إلى موقع إشبيلية الرسمي عن فينيسيوس: “في السابق كنا نجتمع معًا، نلتقي لنتناول مشروبًا ونتشارك الأوقات الجميلة والسيئة، اليوم ضاع كل ذلك، والأهم من ذلك كله هناك نقص في القادة بشكل عام في كرة القدم”.

واختتم باييستا في حديثه عن فينيسيوس: “في السابق، كان لدينا فرناندو هييرو، خوان مارتاجون، كارليس بويول، وهي شخصيات تنير الطريق للبقية، لو كان فينيسيوس بجانب هييرو، لما كان يفعل ما يفعله الآن”.

فينيسيوس نشر اعتذارا عبر حسابه الرسمس في تويتر، لكن هذا الاعتذار لم يتضمن ألونسو، مما فتح باب الاحتمال حول وجود مشكلة حقيقية بين اللاعب والمدرب الإسباني.

ويستعد فينيسيوس رفقة بقية زملائه في ريال مدريد لمواجهة فالنسيا مساء اليوم السبت، ضمن الجولة الـ11 من بطولة الدوري الإسباني.
