أشاد فرانك لامبارد المدير الفني لـ تشيلسي، بالظهير الأيسر بن تشيلويل، بعدما سجل هدفا وصنع آخر في مواجهة كريستال بالاس اليوم السبت.

وفاز تشيلسي برباعية على كريستال بالاس، ضمن الجولة الرابعة من الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز على ملعب ستامفورد بريدج.

وقال لامبارد بعد المباراة: “خرجنا من الشوط الأول بدون أهداف، وفي الشوط الثاني، استطعنا تسجيل الأهداف، كان من الرائع أن نسجل 4 أهداف”.

وأضاف: “كنا بحاجة لإشراك بن تشيلويل، وكان رائعًا، لقدرته على الارتقاء إلى مستوى عالٍ في الملعب، هذا ليس بالأمر السهل، في أول مباراة له مع الفريق بالدوري”.

وأكمل: “قدرة تشيلويل كانت رائعة دفاعيًا وهجوميًا، ونتمنى أن يقدم زملائه نفس المستوى، علينا أن نمنح الصفقات الجديدة بعض الوقت، لأنهم حضروا إلى هنا وكانت لديهم مشاكل”.

 وعن رغبة تامي أبراهام في تنفيذ ركلة الجزاء الثانية التي سجلها الفريق عن طريق جورجينو، قال فرانك: “لقد تعامل تامي بنجاح مع الأمر، لا توجد مشكلة، نحن لدينا قادة في الملعب، من الجيد أن تامي كان متحمسًا ولكنك لا يمكن أن تتخطى بعض الثوابت”.

Newcastle United have kickstarted a late ascent up the Premier League ladder with a number of quality performances and results – no thanks to Monaco loanee Antonio Barreca.

The ex-Torino man arrived from talent refining powerhouse Monaco in January as cover for Wales international Paul Dummett but has since failed miserably to establish himself in the team.

This will have come as a disappointing blow for those Newcastle fans who were excited about the prospect of an immensely talented player turning out for their team – one who was hungry to prove himself after being exiled by Thierry Henry; someone former Torino boss Sinisa Mihajlovic believed could be “become of one the best left-backs in Italy” (as per Chronicle Live).

In reality, Barreca has been very poor.

Chronicle writer Lee Ryder said: “Barreca has not impressed since coming in from Monaco on loan. Paul Dummett has been injured but Barreca has not stepped up.

“The fact that Matt Ritchie has played out of position ahead of him tells you everything you need to know.” (Chronicle Live Q&A 19:48).

Of course, it is always a shame when players fail to fulfil their touted potential – and Newcastle fans will be especially conscious of the consequences this flop could have on their future transfer plans.

Indeed, Mike Ashley will be keeping a keen eye on the progress of his signings and if he feels there are signs of poor judgement from either his manager or the club’s scouting team, then he will undoubtedly reduce the already dwindling funds for next season.

وقال شاكيري، في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية: “الإعلام يكتب كثيرًا، لكن في النهاية أنا مع ليفربول”.

وأضاف لاعب ستوك سيتي السابق: “لدي عقد طويل الأجل، وأشعر حقا أنني بحالة جيدة وقررت البقاء مع ليفربول”.

وقال فاروق جعفر خلال كلمته بالمؤتمر الصحفي داخل نادي الزمالك: “أشكر رموز النادي وكل اللاعبين القدامى علي الحضور، جئنا اليوم من أجل دعم مرتضى منصور بعد قرار إيقافه من قبل اللجنة الأولمبية المصرية، لم نر من قبل في التاريخ قرارا مثل هذا في حق رئيس نادي الزمالك”.

وتابع: “لابد أن يكون هناك موقف مساند خلال الوقت القادم، هناك حرب وضغط علي الزمالك والمتمثلة في رئيسه، لا يصح نادي الزمالك بتاريخه وبطولاته ويتم فعل كل هذا معه، هناك حرب قوية في توقيت صعب قبل الدخول في اللقاءات المصيرية في إفريقيا، وتم اتخاذ القرار قبل لقاء مصيري أمام سموحة، لا أجد أي مبرر سوى أنها حرب على الزمالك”.

وأضاف: “نحن بجانب الدولة المصرية ومع رئيسها عبد الفتاح السيسي، ونطالب بالعدل، لماذا هذه الحرب على الزمالك ورئيسه، نحن نمتلك رئيس نادي قوي يحارب من أجل النادي، هو من يدافع بقوة عن الكيان، أصبح لنا شأن آخر في السنوات الأخيرة، علي عكس الماضي وهذا الكلام على مسئوليتي، مرتضى قام بإنجازات على المستوى الإنشائي على أعلى مستوى، والرياضي بتحقيق البطولات المحلية والقارية”.

Loads of Sunderland fans have been reacting to an update from the Northern Ireland squad, as Will Grigg is struggling with an ankle injury.

Grigg is expected to miss both of Northern Ireland’s Euro 2020 qualifiers during this international break – the green and white army take on Estonia on Thursday evening before a clash with Belarus on Sunday.

According to various reports, the 27 year-old is suffering from an ankle problem and will return to Wearside for treatment.

“Will’s ankle is an ongoing problem that he’s had for some time,” said manager Michael O’Neill.

Unsurprisingly, Sunderland fans are now speculating over the extent of the injury, with plenty hoping it’s just a precaution ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy final, while others fret over the possibility of a more serious issue.

The ex-Wigan ace has bagged three goals and two assists already in his short time as a Black Cat, and if his ankle problem causes him to miss time in April it would be devastating for the club’s promotion hopes.

The number 10 is one of the most iconic shirts in the history of Arsenal.

Greats of the club such as Charlie George, Perry Groves and Dennis Bergkamp all donned the famous shirt, and in doing so became legends of Arsenal. But if you were to ask Arsenal fans to name the player who brought the shirt and number the most shame during their spell in north London, the same player will be said time and time again.

William Gallas is, without question, one of the most infamous players to ever play for Arsenal. The French defender, who joined the club as part of a swap-deal with academy product and Invincible Ashley Cole, had come to north London already with a poor reputation and his former club Chelsea.

Stories had circulated that the defender threatened to score own goals if he was not allowed to leave the club, and Gallas said Chelsea were “lacking class” when the accusations were brought forward.

Gallas’ prior reputation of being outspoken and rash might have gone down well with the Arsenal fans, however, the decision to give him the number 10 shirt, previously worn by club legend Bergkamp, was a sign of things to come.

A poor first season that saw the Gunners finish fourth in the league and dumped out from the Champions League Round of 16 by PSV a season after they made the final saw dramatic changes to the club the following campaign. Record goalscorer Thierry Henry moved to Barcelona and fellow members of the Invisible team left as well in the form of Freddie Ljungberg and Jose Antonio Reyes.

To make matters worse, Gallas was appointed captain by Arsene Wenger, a decision that angered the Arsenal fans as it was widely expected that Gilberto Silva was to take the captain’s armband following the departure of Henry and something the former Arsenal goalkeeper admitted was something that cost the club in the long-term, saying in the Telegraph “We had learned of his appointment in the papers and we all shook our heads.”

Gallas would captain Arsenal during some of the most unforgettable years in their history. As well as confronting Birmingham City fans following a 2-2 draw that saw striker Eduardo suffer a broken leg, something Gunners fans point to as the reason the club didn’t win the title that season, the Frenchman would go on to lose the captains armband in November 2008 following a verbal attack on teammates.

At the end of his four-year contract with the Gunners, Gallas made the move to north London rivals Tottenham on a free transfer.

It’s a testament to his reputation and time at Arsenal that the defender is despised by the fans for his actions with the Gunners, and not for his decision to move to Spurs.

انتقد أسطورة نادي ليفربول ومنتخب إيرلندا الأسبق، جون ألدريدج، قرارات تقنية الفيديو في مباراة “ديربي ميرسيسايد” أمام إيفرتون يوم أمس، السبت، في الجولة الخامسة من بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز بقيادة الحكم الدولي، مايكل أوليفر.

وألغت تقنية الـ VAR هدفا ثالثا لصالح ليفربول في اللحظات الأخيرة من المباراة، كان قد أحرزه القائد جوردان هندرسون بداعي التسلل على ممرر الهدف، ساديو ماني.

كما أصيب فيرجيل فان دايك مدافع الريدز في الشوط الأول بعد تدخل قوي من جوردان بيكفورد حارس إيفرتون على ركبته، ولكن بسبب تسلل الهولندي لم يتخذ قرار ضد الإنجليزي.

وانتهت المباراة بالتعادل الإيجابي بين الجارين ليفربول وإيفرتون بنتيجة 2-2، ليحافظ إيفرتون على صدارة الدوري الإنجليزي ويفقد ليفربول نقطتين جديدتين في البطولة.

وعبر ألدريدج عن رأيه فيما حدث في المباراة من خلاله عموده عبر صحيفة “آيرش إندبندنت” الإيرلندية: “ديربي ميرسيسايد الرائع دمرته بعض قرارات تقنية الفيديو المجنونة في جوديسون بارك”.

وتابع: “لا أتهم الحكم مايكل أوليفر فيما حدث، ولكن إذا كان بإمكاننا التحدث عن شخص مسئول عن تلك القرارات فهو حكم الفيديو، ديفيد كوت، لأنه لم يطلب من الحكم التوجه نحو الشاشة لمراجعة حالة فيرجل فان دايك وجوردان بيكفورد في الشوط الأول”.

وأضاف: “خطوط تقنية الفيديو هي الأخرى مضحكة لاحتساب التسلل من عدمه، ولا أحد يعمل بها لقد أخبرتنا أن فان دايك كان متسللًا بمقدار نصف ملليمتر، لكن هذا لا يعني أنه يسمح لبيكفورد بهذا التدخل العنيف على ركبة فيرجل”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “هذا التدخل القوي على فان دايك قد يعرض ليفربول بالكامل لخطر الابتعاد عن المنافسة على لقب الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز”.

Football.London’s Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold believes Spurs could undergo a major squad revamp this summer.

Tottenham have a number of concerns over the future of certain players, with Toby Alderweireld available for a fee of £25million this summer and Christian Eriksen heavily linked with a possible move to Real Madrid.

Doubts persist over the form of the club’s defenders, too, with Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier both struggling for consistency.

And Gold, speaking exclusively to Football FanCast ahead of a Spurs Legends match against their Inter Milan counterparts, believes there could be a number of changes to the playing squad when the transfer window reopens.

He said: “I do wonder if it’s going to be a bit of a revamp this summer, I think they have to. There’s a positive to the stability they’ve had because it’s clearly given a foundation but they’ve never really kicked above it.

“I think a bit of a revamp is probably needed, I think Mauricio Pochettino needs to freshen things up for himself as well. He’s working with the same players he’s been working with since 2014, pretty much, on the whole.

“I think he’s got to freshen it up. The stadium will freshen things up but in terms of the squad, we will see. Obviously, Eriksen and Alderweireld could be out the door. It could be forced upon them anyway.”

Asked about the potential of a deal for Gareth Bale, a romantic notion often floated by supporters, Gold joked: “Well, if they’ve got £650,000 a week, I’m sure they can do it!

“That’s what he’s supposed to earn and I think that’s before tax in Spain. It’s a very romantic notion, Bale and Modric, another one people are wanting, but it’s just not the Tottenham way right now.”

Instead, it appears that the likes of Norwich City’s Max Aarons and Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be on Spurs’ shortlist.

“Very much so, very much so,” Gold replied when asked about the two promising defenders.

“That’s the kind of players. British talent (is wanted) because they had a total mess with the foreign player limit last year.

“Michel Vorm, we’ll probably see leave, because that’s another foreign player signing they could make.”

Spurs have not signed a single player since January of 2018. Expect that to change this summer.
