Liverpool fans have once again urged the club to re-sign Philippe Coutinho this summer.

The Reds’ official Twitter account confirmed on Tuesday that Jurgen Klopp and his squad have landed in the United States ahead of their pre-season tour.

And a number of supporters responded to the tweet calling on the club to secure a deal to re-sign the Barcelona playmaker.

Calciomercato reported earlier this week that the Reds have submitted a two-year loan offer for the Brazil international, with a purchase option of £88m.

Coutinho, of course, spent five years at Anfield following a move from Inter Milan in 2013.

His move to Barca cost the Catalan club a fee of £142m.

He has made a total of 76 appearances at the Camp Nou, scoring 21 goals and registering 11 assists. He has won La Liga twice, as well as the Spanish Cup and the Spanish Super Cup.

The 21-year-old also weighed in with seven assists in the league, whilst grabbing two goals in his six Champions League appearances last term to make his total tally for the season an impressive 17.

His exquisite campaign has seen him rated at £20m, and you can certainly see why so many top clubs are keeping tabs on him.

A more sensible target for Arsenal in this market

As we all know, this current market is a little bit crazy.

You’ve got players like Harry Maguire and Sean Longstaff valued at £90m and £50m, so finding real quality additions for a realistic price tag has proven fairly difficult.

However, a move for Chalov would be far better for Arsenal rather than seeing them continue to punch well above their weight financially with moves for Nicolas Pepe and Wilfried Zaha.

David Ornstein has revealed that the Gunners don’t have enough to land the €80m-rated Pepe, whilst Zaha’s camp have expressed doubts over the north London-based side’s financial capacity to land the Ivory Coast international.

There is no point wasting time pursuing deals like this. Chalov is rated at just £20m in comparison and although he’s a front-man rather than a winger, he’s the type of player Arsenal should be targeting this summer instead of well-known stars with huge valuations.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Wales international Dean Saunders has questioned Manchester United’s decision to pay a reported £80m for Harry Maguire when they could have paid the release clause for Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.

What did he say?

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are very much intent on signing Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire and have seemingly not been put off by the sizeable valuation being placed on the 26-year-old.

Alderweireld’s reported release clause of £25m is understood to be expiring on Friday, and Saunders has now questioned why the Red Devils haven’t turned their attentions towards the Belgian.

He said: “It’s got ridiculous now, hasn’t it? £80million for Harry Maguire. It’s not his fault, but where is it going to stop?

“Would you take Toby Alderweireld for £25million or Harry Maguire for £80million? You can’t get your money back on Alderweireld, he’s 30, but he’s probably a better player right now.

“As a striker, I’d be thinking to myself, ‘If I can get Maguire out in the channels and get him isolated, he’s not mobile’.”

Value for money?

As United seemingly bear the brunt of paying a ‘British premium’ for players, the chance to sign Alderweireld is seemingly slipping away by the second. The Spurs centre-back has proven himself to be one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers for the north London side and would certainly add a sense of proven quality to United’s back-line.

Indeed, in the state of the current market with inflated transfer fees and extortionate wages, Alderweireld’s reported availability at just £25m marks him out as someone who represents fine value for money. His experience of playing in the Champions League in recent seasons also adds to his added value, whereas Maguire has predominantly played for a Leicester side hovering around mid-table.

Alderweireld has played for a Spurs side that has been challenging for the Premier League title and been legitimate top-four contenders for a while now; that proven experience as Saunders says surely marks the 30-year-old out as the better player. United’s insistence on buying British has seemingly blinded them on what has been staring them in the face.

وأردف: “الشوط الثاني حاولنا إحراز هدف التعادل ولكن لم نوفق وهذه هي الكرة مكسب وخسارة، أتمنى التوفيق للأهلي غدًا أمام بايرن ميونخ، مباراة صعبة”.

وأكمل: “كان هناك تعب وإرهاق بعد مواجهة الأهلي، ولكن اليوم ظهرنا بشكل جيد وحققنا الفوز على بطل آسيا”.

واستمر: “أعجبت بثلاثي الأهلي حمدي فتحي وطاهر محمد طاهر وعمرو السولية، كانوا (شايلين) الأهلي أمامنا، وبواليا مهاجم قوي بدنيًا ومرهق للمدافعين”.

وعن تصريحات المعز علي بأن الدحيل أعطي للأهلي أكبر من حجمه، قال المحمدي: “تحدثت معه هو لاعب محترم، لم يقصد الإساءة للنادي الأهلي، ولا يقدر أن يخطىء في حق جماهير الأهلي، مستحيل”.

The Championship season is now just a few days away! England’s second-tier will kick off on Friday, with Luton Town hosting Middlesbrough, and one would hope that the majority of the division’s clubs are ready for the new campaign. However, even if they are not, they still have an extra few days to complete their transfer business, with the window closing on August 8th. Today’s Championship transfer roundup includes Kiko Casilla’s offer from Spain, West Brom walking away from a deal for a striker and another bid for Swansea’s Oli McBurnie.

Casilla receives Sevilla contract offer

Report: According to Football Insider, Sevilla have tabled a contract offer for Kiko Casilla. It is understood that the La Liga club are willing to match the 32-year-old’s current wage at Leeds, where he earns £40,000 a week.

Verdict: It is perplexing as to why there is so much speculation surrounding Casilla considering he only joined the club in January of this year. But, something is clearly not right in regards to the former Real Madrid man. In a sense, it may be because Marcelo Bielsa wants to give more playing time to Bailey Peacock-Farrell. The 22-year-old was the Argentinian’s number one for the first half of the season, but was replaced by Casilla once he arrived. The Northern Ireland shot-stopper has admitted that he may need to leave Elland Road to receive more playing time. For Casilla himself, a move back to Spain makes sense, and especially to Sevilla, where he would be competing in the Europa League.

How likely is the deal? 7.5/10

WBA walk away from Ajeti

Report: It is being reported by The Express and Star that West Brom have walked away from a deal for Albian Ajeti. It is said that the 22-year-old’s wage demands were too high for the Hawthorns outfit, who will now look elsewhere.

Verdict: This is a shame from a Baggies perspective, as the Switzerland international has a good record in front of goal. He scored 21 times in 43 appearances for FC Basel last season, and has 43 goals in 95 games overall for the 20-time Swiss champions. It is not known exactly how much the striker asked for, but West Brom are right to refuse to sign him if they believe he was asking for too much. It is important not to be forced into deals during an age when player power is perhaps greater than it has ever been.

Swansea receive new McBurnie bid

Report: It is being reported that Sheffield United have lodged a new bid for Swansea City’s Oli McBurnie. The latest offer could rise to £20m, which is £5m more than the previous one from the Blades. The Welsh club are said to be mulling over the approach.

Verdict: McBurnie is a player on the up. The Scotland international scored 24 goals in 44 appearances for the Swans last season, his highest-scoring season to date. However, his Premier League experience is limited, and his record at the highest level does not make for great reading. He is yet to score in 16 games in the top tier and has also drawn a blank in all of his seven matches for Scotland. £20m, therefore, is an awful lot to pay for a forward who still has a lot to prove, and the fee would allow Swansea to bring in another good quality striker to replace him. Sheffield United, meanwhile, have brought in just two players with Premier League experience this summer. Surely some top-level quality is needed for them to survive?

According to French outlet L’Equipe, Everton made an offer of €30m (£27.6m) to Watford for Abdoulaye Doucoure, with the same report adding that the midfielder could be tempted by a new challenge.

A more recent report has stated that a £32m bid for the former Stade Rennais man has been rejected by the Hornets, who unsurprisingly. don’t appear to be particularly keen on losing one of their best players.

Doucoure starred under Javi Gracia last term, scoring five goals and recording six assists in the Premier League, and he really does seem to be the complete package in midfield nowadays at the age of 26.

The Frenchman can score goals, make them, and also do his defensive duties judging by his average of two tackles and 1.5 clearances per game from last term.

However, it would be an extremely puzzling move from the Toffees if they signed the 6 foot powerhouse.

Despite his impressive stats, the Merseysiders have already signed three midfielders this summer and it is becoming increasingly difficult to see where Doucoure would fit in under Marco Silva.

The Toffees have recruited Andre Gomes on a permanent basis this summer, and have also added Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph from Mainz and Manchester City respectively.
