According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Bournemouth forward is unlikely to join Southampton before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline as his salary expectations are beyond what they’d like to pay.

Just a few days ago, talkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams, known as BroadcastMoose on Twitter, revealed that the 29-year-old was the Hammers’ “top target” and that claims over his huge wage demands were “misguided.”

If true, it’s time for GSB to pull the trigger before it’s too late…

After sanctioning the departure of club-record flop Sebastien Haller at the start of the month for a £25m loss, the Irons have yet replaced his void in the attack, meaning the prospects of having Michail Antonio as their only striking option is fast becoming a reality.

And now with their top-flight rivals seemingly out of the picture, it’s time for GSB to get their wallet out and pay whatever King wants as he’d clearly be a very decent addition.

In five successive seasons in the Premier League with the Cherries, the Norway international bagged at least six times with a career-best 16 goals coming during the 16/17 campaign, via Transfermarkt.

Valued at £9.9m by Transfermarkt, King was said to be heading to St Mary’s for a “small fee” whilst he’s thought to be earning around £45k-per-week at the Vitality Stadium, which puts him behind a plethora of current West Ham stars, including rarely-seen duo Issa Diop (£67k-per-week) and Winston Reid (£70k-per-week).

Reports from The Sun earlier this month suggested King would be available for just £15m, £5m less than what GSB received for the sale of Haller.

But talkSPORT’s Alex Crook believes he could now be available for far cheaper.

Which only strengthens the argument that GSB need to act fast.

Antonio has already missed a fair share of matches this term – during an absence of eight matches, the Hammers won only three times whilst his five-goal total for the Premier League season so far is only bettered by Thomas Soucek.

GSB cannot afford to risk ruining their season by not having a viable alternative. One bad injury to their only striker could spell curtains. The Irons must make the most of West Ham finding themselves in fifth place.

King, who has a proven track record in the top-flight and has vast versatility to play anywhere in attack, should be signed before tonight’s deadline. Just this month, he was dubbed a “real handful” by current Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall.

He’s evidently free to move today and going by Crook and Ornstein’s comments, he could be available for a bargain price.

West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals justified David Moyes’ surprise decision to start the Spaniard against Tottenham Hotspur by turning in a lively performance in Sunday’s 2-1 win.

Fornals had begun to fall out of favour at the London Stadium in recent weeks following Jesse Lingard’s arrival on loan from Manchester United but earned a recall to mark his 20th start of the Premier League season.

It was Fornals’ first top-flight appearance in three games after playing no role in his side’s previous goalless draw with Fulham or 3-0 win away to Sheffield United, while only featuring for the final six minutes of a 3-1 win at Aston Villa at the start of the month.

Few would have expected Fornals to open the action against Tottenham given his fall down Moyes’ pecking order, with Said Benrahma instead left a substitute as Jarrod Bowen was placed back on the wing to create space for Michal Antonio’s return.

Antonio had sat out the Blades affair on Monday night through fatigue, but the 31-year-old wasted no time in scoring his sixth goal of the Premier League campaign to break the deadlock.

He proved a constant problem for Tottenham’s defenders to deal with throughout the 90 minutes on Sunday, with Antonio frequently in the thick of West Ham’s attacking moves.

Yet his all-energy approach was nothing short of what supporters will have come to expect of the £11m-rated striker to allow Fornals to steal the honour of justifying Moyes’ team selection.

Fornals was tireless throughout his time on the field before making way for Ben Johnson to offer greater defensive support in the closing stages, as West Ham saw out a one-goal lead to move up to fourth in the Premier League table.

The £67k-per-week playmaker had been involved in Lingard doubling the Irons’ advantage early in the second half, as well, after playing a nice one-two with the England international who rounded Eric Dier and lashed home into the far corner.

Fornals and Lingard almost connected for a third with a quarter of an hour left on the clock, with the Spaniard’s pass on the edge of the box intended for Antonio rolling through to an alert Manchester United loanee whose shot was scrambled to safety.

Though only one of the chances was marked as a key pass by SofaScore, who further registered Fornals as winning four of 13 ground duels and one of two aerial contests, along with winning possession from three tackles.

On average this season, the 24-year-old has only recorded one tackle, won 2.4 ground duels, won 0.5 aerial duels per game, and further matched his usual standards with one successful dribble from two attempts.

Moyes will have been delighted to see Fornals perform at such a level to justify his selection, with it having been ever so easy to otherwise persist without the Spaniard in the side.

Many fans of West Ham United have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relayed an image of the Hammers’ Czech Republic duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.

So far this season, both Soucek and Coufal have hugely impressed throughout West Ham’s assault on the top four of the Premier League table. Soucek has scored eight goals and averaged a WhoScored match rating of 7.36, while Coufal has provided his teammates with three assists and averaged a match rating of 6.97 – ranking the pair as the club’s second and fifth-best performers in the top flight respectively.

ظهر المدير الفني كارلو أنشيلوتي أمام وسائل الإعلام في المؤتمر الصحفي قبل مباراة الجولة 19، حيث يلاقي ريال مدريد نظيره خيتافي على ملعب ألفونسو بيريز كوليسيوم في مدريد.

أكد المدرب الإيطالي خسارة فينيسيوس جونيور بسبب فيروس كورونا، لكنه كان متفائلًا بشأن تحقيق نتيجة إيجابية أمام فريق معقد.

وتمنى أنشيلوتي للصحافة عاما سعيدا ولم يتردد في الرد على تشافي هيرنانديز، بكل احترام، لطلبه تعليق مباراة برشلونة بسبب خسائر فيروس كورونا.

After clinching an impressive away victory at Leeds United at the weekend, Aston Villa suffered a hugely disappointing defeat against Sheffield United on Wednesday night.

Dean Smith’s side boasted an incredible 72% possession, but could only manage a measly four shots on target in the entire 90 minutes, with Aaron Ramsdale rarely tested.

One man who will surely have the Villa boss worried, is Ahmed Elmohamady.

The veteran full-back has been in the team lately due to Matty Cash being out injured, and after being criticised by Smith for his role in the defeat to Leicester City, looked out of sorts once again on Wednesday.

He lost possession a whopping 20 times over the course of the game, almost double that of his season average of 10.6 per match in the Premier League this season.

The £45k-a-week earning Elmohamady was incredibly wasteful with his deliveries into the box, failing to find the target with any of the six crosses that he attempted, while he didn’t manage a single successful dribble either – a complete non-entity going forward.

Writing in his post-match player ratings, The Birmingham Mail’s Ashley Preece said: “Endured a really slow start and was poor throughout the first half, which encapsulated with a series of under-hit passes with one putting McGinn in trouble as McGoldrick scythed him down. Lacked any kind of belief tonight and was given a few ticking offs by Konsa next to him for the lack of an out-ball. Grew more comfortable as United defended what they had after going down to 10 men.

“However, on this showing, you’d say Matty Cash will have his starting shirt back once he’s back fit again. It was Elmohamady who fell asleep at the back post for McGoldrick’s match-winner, don’t forget. That was a lapse in concentration which mirrored his display against Leicester. Not at the races tonight.”

With Cash still out injured, and no real senior option that can play at right-back other than the Egyptian, Smith will surely be worried about that flank going forward, especially given how Elmohamady has already made some big mistakes over the past couple of games already.
