According to reports from Spain, Sergio Aguero is keeping the door open on a move to Leeds United this summer, with Marcelo Bielsa thought to be a key factor in the potential switch.

The report by Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) claims that Leeds are “in the picture” to land Aguero this summer, with the 32-year-old set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season.

It is reported that, despite interest from Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, Marcelo Bielsa’s position as manager at Leed is of “importance” to Aguero, and that the Argentine values the proposal of playing for the Whites.

Furthermore, another advantage that Leeds are said to hold is their readiness to make a move for the Manchester City star, with it being claimed that both Juventus and PSG would have to sell players before sanctioning any deal.

With Sport Witness’ translation claiming that Aguero is prioritising the “sporting project” ahead of “economic proposals” when deciding his next move, as the 32-year-old wants to feature regularly for his new side in order to secure a place in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup squad, this could be yet another feather in Leeds’ cap in their pursuit of the centre-forward.

Despite the fact that Rodrigo is classed as a centre-forward, the Spaniard has often been played in a deeper role this season, meaning that Bielsa’s only real option as a senior striker is Patrick Bamford.

As such, if the man Pep Guardiola recently claimed is “irreplaceable” were to join Leeds this summer, all the Argentine would have to do is convince Bielsa that he is a better option to lead the line than Bamford in order to become the Whites’ main man up top, or perhaps even tempt Bielsa to deploy them both together.

واختتم مدرب الأهلي تصريحاته بتوجيه الشكر إلى اللاعبين على الأداء المميز، مؤكدًا أن هناك إصرارًا من جانب الجميع على تقديم أفضل ما يمكن خلال المواجهة المقبلة أمام بالميراس البرازيلي في الدور نصف النهائي لتحقيق طموحات الجماهير.

Many Everton fans were left delighted by the news that the Goodison Park faithful condemned the idea of the European Super League (ESL).

The league has since collapsed following the withdrawal of the six English clubs who were originally going to play in it, but the Merseyside club made their feelings known from the start.

As per the official website of the Toffees, they were both ‘saddened’ and ‘disappointed’ by the proposals of the breakaway league which was pushed forward by Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues went on to vent their anger and frustration at the idea, which gained a lot of support not just from EFC supporters, but fans all across the country.

Southampton chairman Jisheng Gao could be set to suffer a huge blow at St Mary’s this summer, as CEO Martin Semmens is being touted as a potential replacement for Ed Woodward at Manchester United.

According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, United have already begun their search for Woodward’s replacement, with both Semmens and Norwich City’s Stuart Webber admired.

Woodward had worked as executive vice-chairman with the Red Devils since 2012 but resigned last week as he could not support the proposed Super League plans.

The Old Trafford side were already expecting his exit, as he had already announced his intention to leave at the end of the season, but the Super League debacle clearly accelerated his plans.

Therefore, United will be certainly be looking to add a new executive vice-chairman ahead of next season and it seems as if Semmens could well be on their list.

Semmens has been CEO since Gao became the chairman in June 2019 and has been in charge of the day-to-day running of the club since then.

Although Southampton lost £76m in 2020 as a result of the financial impacts of the pandemic, it is suggested that the South Coast club usually lose money on a day-to-day basis and then cover those losses with the sale of players, which other than Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, didn’t really happen last summer.

Semmens has a decent record of bringing in quality players, with the likes of Kyle Walker-Peters, Ibrahima Diallo and Danny Ings all joining on permanent deals under his tenure.

Woodward was often criticised for his transfer decisions at United and you can see why those at Old Trafford might want to bring in someone of Semmens’ experience and expertise in making smart deals in the transfer market.

Os socos desferidos contra o volante colorado Rodrigo Dourado durante o Gre-Nal 411 garantiram ao lateral-direito Edílson, do Grêmio, cinco jogos de suspensão pelo Campeonato Brasileiro. Essa foi a decisão do julgamento realizado pela Quinta Comissão Disciplinar do Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD), nesta quinta-feira. Dourado, também julgado, foi punido com um jogo (já cumprido) de suspensão. Já Miller Bolaños, Vitinho e o árbitro Francisco Carlos do Nascimento foram absolvidos. A decisão cabe recurso.

Edílson, que já cumpriu um jogo por ter sido expulso no Gre-Nal, só ficará à disposição do técnico Renato Portaluppi pelo Campeonato Brasileiro na última rodada da competição, diante do Botafogo, na Arena. Como foi julgado por uma atitude no Brasileirão, o camisa 33 está liberado para defender o Tricolor na decisão da Copa do Brasil contra o Atlético-MG, nos próximos dias 23 e 30.

Edílson, Dourado e Miller Bolaños foram enquadrados no artigo 254-1 do Código Brasileiro de Justiça Desportiva (CBJD) por praticar agressão física e corriam o risco de serem suspensos por até 12 jogos. Já Vitinho foi citado por ato hostil. Francisco Carlos do Nascimento, por sua vez, entrou na mira do STJD por não coibir a violência entre os atletas, não controlar os ânimos no Gre-Nal.

O relator Rodrigo Raposo optou por absolver o árbitro por entender que não houve conduta errada do mesmo. Ele também votou para absolver Vitinho e Bolaños, entendendo que não foi possível visualizar uma infração, e desclassificou a denúncia de agressão para imprudência no caso de Dourado, votando pela suspensão de um jogo. Já no caso de Edílson, o relator destacou que a agressão está configurada e, considerando os antecedentes do atleta, votou pela pena de cinco jogos. Os auditores José Nascimento, Eduardo Mello e o Presidente Jonas Lopes acompanharam o entendimento e o voto do relator na íntegra.

Renato Portaluppi também esteve na mira do STJD nesta quinta, mas por conta da expulsão no jogo da volta das quartas de final da Copa do Brasil, contra o Palmeiras. Ele, no entanto, foi absolvido e, com isso, está liberado para comandar o Tricolor na decisão da competição.
