Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has said that he is delighted with the signing of Dennis Adeniran following his debut for the club on Saturday.

Moore is on the hunt for new signings ahead of next season as the Owls prepare for life in League One.

One player who has completed a move to Hillsborough is Adeniran, who joined on a free transfer over the weekend after being released by Everton.

The 22-year-old played in Wednesday’s 2-0 win away to Chester City on Saturday, with his debut described as ‘encouraging’ by Yorkshire Live’s Dom Howson.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live after the game, Moore heaped praise on his new acquisition, claiming that he will be a hugely positive addition to his squad. The Owls manager said:

“I am really, really pleased to have someone of that calibre in there. He is real different to what we have got in midfield.

“He will be a wonderful acquisition for us this season.

“We have been aware of him for a little while. We had a bit of competition for him from the Championship but I made it clear to him that I wanted to bring him here to Sheffield Wednesday.

“I am really pleased to secure him and get him signed and over he line.

“He can play at number eight and play further forward up the pitch. He will bring great energy to us and he has got good quality on the ball.

“In terms of Baz [Bannan] and Mas [Massimo Luongo], he is very different to those players.”

The Verdict: Shrewd acquisition for Owls

It is vital that Moore now builds his own team at Hillsborough, injecting his squad with youth and masterminding a return to the Championship.

Adeniran could be someone who makes a difference in the middle of the park, complementing more seasoned professionals such as Sam Hutchinson and Barry Bannan. The youngster has won a total of 22 caps for England’s under-17s, under-18s and under-19s combined, highlighting his quality and showing why he could be an effective signing.

Given Moore’s comments about him being a long-time target and potentially offering something different, it certainly seems like an encouraging move by the Owls.

O meia Guilherme Costa começou bem a temporada, caiu nas graças da torcida, mas voltou a ser reserva. Segundo o técnico Cristovão Borges, o jovem ainda precisa de regularidade. O jogador de 22 anos conta que respeita a decisão do treinador, e inclusive é grato a ele por conta das oportunidades dadas nesta temporada.

– Eu tenho comigo que cada oportunidade tenho que agarrar da melhor forma possível. Sou muito grato ao Cristovão. Passaram vários treinadores aqui que nunca me deram oportunidades e ele me deu. Cabe a mim aproveitar qualquer oportunidade que ele me dar. Tenho que respeitar a decisão dele e entrar bem quando tiver a chance. Guilherme garante que todo o grupo está fechado com Cristovão neste momento em que ele vem sofrendo grande pressão por conta dos maus resultados. Ele diz que os jogadores estão correndo pelo técnico e que o Vasco é capaz de conseguir a classificação na Copa do Brasil contra o Vitória, na próxima quinta-feira, no Barradão.

– Não só eu, mas os outros jogadores estão fechados com Cristovão. A torcida quer resultado, por isso as críticas. Estamos correndo por ele. Quinta temos total chances de conquistar o resultado. Temos um time bom para buscar o resultado lá na Bahia.

O jovem meia conta que não se abalou por ter voltado a ser reserva. Ele entende que é normal ter oscilações na sua idade e diz que continua treinando forte para aproveitar as chances na equipe.

– Não fiquei (abalado). Tenho uma cabeça muito boa, não fiquei sentido. Nos treinos não me acodei, continuei treinando firme. Futebol é assim. Eu sou novo, preciso de um tempo, é normal essas oscilações. cada dia que entro aqui é para dar o máximo. quero é ajudar o Vasco

Apresentado nesta segunda-feira como novo técnico do Vasco, Milton Mendes já começou a trabalhar e comandou o seu primeiro nesta tarde. No campo anexo de São Januário, o treinador comandou atividades técnica e tática visando a partida contra o Madureira, na quarta-feira, pela Taça Rio, segundo turno do Campeonato Carioca.

O treinamento começou com o preparadorFlávio Trevisan, que veio junto com Milton, reunindo o grupo para o aquecimento. Logo depois, os jogadores que atuaram diante do Botafogo realizam um trabalho técnico, enquanto os demais fizeram um circuito com bola.

Na parte final, Milton promoveu uma movimentação tática. O treinadorparou a atividade em diversos momentos para ajustar o posicionamento da equipe e procurou conversar bastante com os atletas neste primeiro contato.

Além disso, o novo treinador também aproveitar para conversar com Valdir Bigode. O auxiliar técnico foi o responsável por comandar a equipe no clássico contra o Botafogo, no último domingo.

Os únicos jogadores que não participaram foram os entregues ao Caprres.Os meias Guilherme e Wagner estiveram no gramado, mas realizando um trabalho de transição. O zagueiro Rodrigo e o atacante Kelvin continuam se recuperando das lesões musculares sofridas no confronto com o Vitória. O zagueiro Luan e o volante Marcelo Mattos também estão em tratamento.

Former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer has told Football FanCast that he cannot believe some of the stuff that has been said about Kalvin Phillips, including comments from ex-England manager Fabio Capello.

Phillips starred for England at the Euros, playing in all seven of the Three Lions’ fixtures.

During that run to the final, which ended in defeat to Roberto Mancini’s Italy at Wembley, the 25-year-old came in for a lot of plaudits.

Among those who praised Phillips for his contribution in the tournament was Capello, who told the MailOnline that the Leeds star was the “best modern midfielder” he has seen today.

It comes as a surprise to Palmer, who feels that Phillips needs to do more to justify such comments.

“I can’t believe… you know, I watch football and I think I’m a very pragmatic person, a realistic person, and I sit there and I listen to some of these commentators [and comments] and I think, ‘What are you basing your comments on?’

“What are you basing your remarks on? Kalvin Phillips has had a superb European Championship, but we’re talking about a handful of games. That doesn’t turn him into a world-class player yet.”

Phillips has been linked with a move away from Elland Road, with TuttoJuve reporting last month that Capello’s old side Juventus are interested in signing the England international.

Perhaps there is more work for Phillips to do, but he still looks to have caught the attention of many with some of his performances at Euro 2020.
