Cheteshwar Pujara, the Saurashtra captain, has scored his second triple-century in a week, notching up 309 against Mumbai in the Under-22 CK Nayudu Trophy in Rajkot. Last Monday, Pujara made 386 against Maharashtra at the same venue in the same tournament.Saurashtra gained three points from their first-innings lead after Mumbai were bowled out for 473 in reply to their 754.Pujara said he was “immensely satisfied” at scoring two triple-centuries. “I came in at No. 3 in both the matches and was happy to stay at the wicket for such long periods of time,” he told the . While he spent eleven and a half hours at the crease against Maharashtra, he batted for nearly nine against Mumbai. “What makes me happy is that in both the cases, I batted for two days at a stretch.”Pujara has been picked for the Challenger Trophy, featuring national players and those on the fringes, starting on Saturday. His two mammoth scores come ahead of the two Tests and seven ODIs against England. “I think I’m comfortable in both forms of the game. The Challengers will be a great platform for me to show my one-day skills.”Debu Mitra, the Saurashtra coach, said it was Pujara’s solid defence that made him such a good player. “If you have a good defence, you’ve won half the battle,” Mitra said. “This boy has a sound defensive technique and enormous powers of concentration.”But while he is happy to have his technique compared to Rahul Dravid, also known for his impenetrable defence, Pujara said it wasn’t for him to decide whether he would replace Dravid in the Indian team. “Dravid is a great player and I am a huge of fan of his, just as I follow Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting. I pray for half an hour every day and that helps me in my batting.”Kris Srikkanth, the BCCI’s chairman of selectors, said Pujara will be watched keenly during the Challengers. “Scoring two triple-hundreds in any form of cricket is a great achievement,” Srikkanth said. “I have seen him bat in the Test against New Zealand A and the guy looks extremely talented.”

وأضاف: “لا يوجد بند في عقدي بشأن نيه البيع، ولكن هناك بند في العقد يمنح الأهلي أحقية قطع الإعارة في أي فترة انتقالات ويدفع شرطا جزائيا”.

وأتم: “أسير بخطى جيدة جدًا في الدوري التشيكي وهدفي الانتقال إلى دوري أكبر”.

– Nunca fui artilheiro na minha vida. Já liderei assistências, mas de gol em algum campeonato? Nunca tinha acontecido. Estou zoando os meninos, é a segunda vez que sou artilheiro. A primeira vez foi nas assistências. Agora sou artilheiro isolado – brincou.

Com seis pontos, o Peixe foi para o 12º colocado na tabela do Campeoanto Brasileiro. O próximo desafio será no domingo, contra o Atlético-PR, às 19h, na Arena da Baixada.

Speaking to Football Insider, Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson has been left wowed by Tottenham Hotspur starlet Pape Matar Sarr and has even dropped a Tanguy Ndombele comparison.

The Lowdown: Spurs snap up Sarr…

Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici showcased why Daniel Levy appointed him as he managed to bring in both Sarr and defender Emerson Royal during the last fortnight of the transfer window.

The former, who has been touted as a really promising midfield gem, even attracted attention from Premier League champions Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United in the summer (Evening Standard).

Alas, Spurs won the race to sign Sarr and it’s safe to say Robinson has been left impressed by his capture at N17.

The Latest: Robinson drops Sarr claim…

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Lilywhites keeper has even claimed that the 18-year-old is an ‘improved version’ of club record signing Tanguy Ndombele and will be fighting for first team opportunities in years to come.

“He’s played 20 odd times for Metz already,” Robinson explained.

“He will be challenging for a first-team place at Tottenham. This isn’t someone who’s coming in to be part of the Under 23s.

“He looks like the finished article and he’s only going to get better.

“If you look at him and the way he plays, he looks like an improved version of Ndombele.

“For the price Sarr cost, he looks a better player.”

The Verdict: Big statement…

Likening the teenager to Ndombele arguably comes as a big statement given Sarr has just one full season of senior action under his belt.

However, if he continues at this trajectory, the starlet could well be one to watch – especially considering he averaged a rather impressive two tackles per 90 over 18 Ligue 1 starts for FC Metz last year (WhoScored).

Still very young but gaining valuable experience thriving at the top level already, Spurs supporters could be about to witness the rise of a real prospect.

وتقام منافسات كأس العرب للشباب بالممكلة العربية السعودية، في الفترة من 20 يوليو الجاري وحتى 5 أغسطس المقبل، وأسفرت القرعة عن وقوع منتخب مصر للشباب في المجموعة الرابعة، التي تضم منتخبي عمان والصومال.

ومن المقرر أن يقام المعسكر المغلق المقبل بالقاهرة، ويستمر حتى موعد السفر إلى المملكة العربية السعودية، للمشاركة في كأس العرب .

ويشهد معسكر منتخب الشباب الذي ينطلق الأحد، مواجهة ودية أمام فريق طلائع الجيش يوم الأربعاء المقبل في استاد جهاز الرياضة العسكري.

Kris Srikkanth, the chairman of India’s national selectors, has backed Yuvraj Singh to take the Test middle-order spot vacated by Sourav Ganguly, the former captain who has retired.Yuvraj made two consecutive match-winning hundreds (138* and 118) against England in the first two ODIs of the seven-match series over the last five days, and also picked up a four-wicket haul in Indore yesterday. Srikkanth told the Kolkata-based that he now sees Yuvraj as the front-runner to take Ganguly’s slot.”I see Yuvi as a potential match-winner in Tests too. Over the years, he has already shown he’s a match-winner in ODIs,” Srikkanth said. “There are others in the running as well (for Ganguly’s slot), but Yuvi is definitely a front-runner.”Yuvraj has had an inconsistent run in Test cricket, having played just 23 matches for 1050 runs since his debut five years ago. However, the 26-year-old has been a mainstay for India in one-day cricket having piled up 6397 runs in 219 matches.While Dilip Vengsarkar, the former India captain and previous chief selector, had recently blamed Yuvraj’s inconsistency at the highest level on a lack of focus, Srikkanth said it had more to do with confidence.”I’ve never felt Yuvi has a problem focusing on what he’s required to do. I’ve always seen him as a confidence-player and such players need a couple of good knocks under their belt,” Srikkanth said.Asked about Yuvraj’s latest run of form, Srikkanth said, “He has been brilliant. Rajkot had a batting track, but the Indore wicket was on the slower side and Yuvi had to first hold the innings together. He proved that he can be a match-winner from any situation.”The Indian selectors will meet on Thursday in Kanpur, after the third ODI between India and England, to select the team for the rest of the series.

Five-wicket hauls from Ramesh Powar and debutant Dhawal Kulkarni helped Mumbai gain a sizeable first-innings lead at the Brabourne Stadium, placing their team in a position from where they can now aim for an outright victory. Although Rajasthan did well to earn two wickets in Mumbai’s second innings late in the day, the hosts finished 133 ahead at stumps.Rajasthan got off to a positive start in the morning after Mumbai, resuming on 293 for 8, folded for 307. In reply, Rajasthan suffered a jolt when Kulkarni bagged two wickets in two overs when he had Shubhanshu Vijay and Nikhil Doru caught in the slips by Sahil Kukreja in identical fashion. Kulkarni maintained an off-stump line, trying to make best use of the new ball, and both batsmen fell to reckless shots.After Kulkarni’s double-strike, Venugopal Rao and Vineet Saxena progressed calmly. However, Powar’s introduction at the Churchgate End worked in Mumbai’s favour. Rao, who was connecting with ease against the fast bowlers, seemed flustered against Powar’s offspin and the bounce he got off the pitch.In a careless moment, Rao went for the slog-sweep, and was caught well by Agarkar at long leg. His fell a few overs before lunch, and Powar struck twice in an over after the break. Ashok Menaria’s unconvincing prod resulted in only an edge that was caught easily by keeper Vinayak Samant. Five balls later, Robin Bist, the last specialist batsman, played all over a simple offbreak and Ajinkya Rahane picked an easy bat-pad offering at silly point.Powar bowled an unchanged spell of 20-3-44-5, his best figures in the past year. His previous five-for came in an away game against Tamil Nadu last season. At the other end Kulkarni bowled with purpose – pitching it fuller and trying to move the ball in. He smartly mixed it up with the shorter ones that would lift suddenly. His best dismissal was that of Gagan Khoda, Rajasthan’s senior-most batsman. Khoda had hit two fluent cover drives for four off Kulkarni in the third over after the lunch. But Kulkarni, who impressed for Mumbai Indians during the IPL, sensed his opponent’s aggressive approach; he pitched one on length and moved it slightly away and Khoda, who had already committed to the stroke, could only nick one to Wasim Jaffer at first slip.Mumbai were frustrated by the final-wicket pair of Saxena and Gajendra Singh, who added 52. Saxena used his feet well especially against spin and cleared the infield frequently to pick some easy runs. He was the solitary batsman to play his shots and didn’t allow the bowlers to get on top. Jaffer had to go to Kulkarni to deliver the breakthrough. The bowler, in his fourth spell, ended Saxena’s resistance, becoming only the seventh Mumbai bowler to bag a five-for on debut. Hormasji Vajifdar, Eknath Solkar, Suru Nayak, Balwinder Sandhu, Amit Dani and Manish Patel had achieved the feat in the past.

وتابع: “أموال الأندية ليست خاصة، هذه الأموال ملك للشعب، يجب أن يتم تخصيص جزء من الميزانية لتطوير الناشئين، ويكون هناك حلول على أرض الواقع، هناك مشكلة في تقييم اللاعبين في مصر، لم يعد لدينا لاعبين على مستوى عال”.

وأضاف: “يجب أن يتم وضع سقف لرواتب اللاعبين ويتم إجبار الأندية على تخصيص جزء من الميزانية الخاصة بها، للصرف على الناشئين، وكذلك المدربين وتطويرهم، وتحسين الملاعب”.

وأوضح: “الهولندي رود كرول المدير الفني السابق لمنتخب مصر، من أفضل المدربين الذين عملت معهم، كان يتحرك في كل محافظات مصر ويبحث عن المواهب، ومنهم أحمد حسن وعلي ماهر وحازم إمام، وبدأ في عمل معسكرات للاعبين بالمركز الأولمبي، وأخرج 10 لاعبين جيدين مثلوا المنتخب لمدة 10 سنوات بعد ذلك”.

واختتم: “يجب تطوير الكرة في مصر، ورسالتي الإعلامية تجعلني من الواجب عليً أن أقول هذا الكلام”.
