The Pakistan Cricket Board had refused to meet Danish Kaneria’s lawyer, in another setback to the legspinner’s attempts to seek clarification on his continued exclusion from the Pakistan team. “We have received another email from their lawyer saying again they are not prepared to have a meeting so obviously we are very, very disappointed about that,” Steve Haurigan, Kaneria’s lawyer, said yesterday.Kaneria was one of three players – alongside Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik – who were summoned before the PCB’s inquiry committee in order to gain clearance to play for the country. Pakistan had delayed the announcement of their 30-man World Cup squad till January 5 to complete investigating the three players, but only Kamran was included in the preliminary list for the tournament. Kaneria was also in the original squad to play two Tests against South Africa in the UAE, but was told moments before he was about to leave for the airport that he hadn’t been cleared to play.Haurigan said the PCB’s reluctance to clear Kaneria was also hampering his prospects with English county sides. “We want to know what objections the PCB have against Danish continuing to play? Because they haven’t told him or us what those objections are. They are blocking him playing not only in Pakistan for the Pakistan team but also obviously outside Pakistan. The effect of the PCB being reluctant to clear Danish is that the county sides in England who are willing and almost queuing up to sing up Danish are reluctant to do it, understandably because they are not sure what’s going on.”Kaneria was the subject of a criminal investigation in August by Essex police over allegations that he was involved in spot-fixing during a county game, but was released without charge in September. He has not been retained by the county for the upcoming season, but Kaneria has said that is only due to ‘financial reasons’. Haurigan said Kaneria was prepared to answer all questions regarding the UK investigations. “There are issues as regards what happened in the UK last year. He’s been cleared by the ICC and the British police, and he wants to carry on playing. He is frustrated that nobody is telling him what the problem is.”Danish is effectively being called in by his boss, the PCB, and told you can’t work anymore, but they haven’t told him why, and they won’t tell him why. We are not here to annoy any people and start proceedings. Danish wants nothing more but to continue playing. He’ll love to put on the colors of the Pakistan team and get out there bowling again that’s all he wants to do.”Haurigan hinted at the possibility of further legal action if the PCB continued to stick to its stance. “At this stage, we can’t rule out anything. We want to get it resolved in Danish’s favour as quickly as possible, but we are aware of all the options that are possibly open to us. If we don’t get the information then we have to do something sooner rather than later.”

Já Anderson Martins, que desfalcou o São Paulo em 12 dos 21 jogos do Tricolor nesta temporada, está próximo de se recuperar das dores na região dorsal e voltar a treinar normalmente com os demais jogadores do clube no CT da Barra Funda. Contratado do Vasco no início da temporada, o defensor chegou ao clube para brigar por uma vaga entre os titulares, mas, até aqui, ainda não conseguiu justificar sua chegada.

O restante do grupo do São Paulo se reapresenta no próximo sábado (7), no CT da Barra Funda. O grupo inciará os treinamentos de olho na estreia da Copa Sul-Americana, na quinta (12), contra o Rosário Central, na Argentina. O confronto no país vizinho será o primeiro jogo internacional do Tricolor na temporada 2018.

وكان الاتحاد المصري للكرة الطائرة قد أعلن عن نتائج قرعة المرحلة الثانية لمنافسات بطولة الدوري الممتاز والتي أسفرت عن وقوع الأهلي والزمالك في مجموعة واحدة، بجانب سموحة وبتروجيت وإيسترن كومباني والترسانة.

وحل في المجموعة الثانية الاتحاد السكندري وطلائع الجيش والطيران وهليوبوليس وسبورتنج والشمس.

Isolado após a saída de quase toda sua diretoria, o presidente Alexandre Campello busca apoio entre antigos opositores nos bastidores.

Agora oposição, os grupos de Roberto Monteiro (Identidade Vasco) e Eurico Miranda (Casaca) se movimentam em busca de um impeachment. Para isso acontecer, é necessário que o pedido passe pelo Conselho e tenha 2/3 dos 300 votos possíveis. Roberto Monteiro, presidente do órgão, tem boa parte do apoio.

Ciente disso, Campello buscou apoio com Fernando Horta (que foi candidato na última eleição), José Luis Moreira (que foi vice de futebol durante muito tempo na gestão Eurico Miranda) e Otto Carvalho (membro do Conselho Fiscal e parte importante do grupo de Horta).

Em contato com o LANCE!, Horta se mostrou disposto a ajudar o atual presidente contra o “golpe” (segundo ele), que Monteiro e Eurico querem dar em Campello:

– Estamos dispostos a ajudar e o Campello se mostrou aberto a isso. Não vamos deixar acontecer o golpe que o grupo do Monteiro e do Eurico está planejando. O que mais queremos é um Vasco transparente e é isso que eles querem evitar.

José Luis Moreira também falou com a reportagem. Questionado sobre o cargo de vice-presidente de futebol, ao qual está cotado para assumir, ele foi reticente:

– Não estou pensando nisso. Queremos ajudar o Vasco. Não há conversa por cargos, se houvesse uma possibilidade, eu teria que pensar muito, mas não é o que eu quero agora.

Zé do Taxi, como também é conhecido, divulgou uma nota de apoio a Campello:

“Chegou a hora de me manifestar sobre a situação que se encontra o nosso Vasco. O momento é de união. Somar forças e recolocar a nau vascaína em mares tranquilos para que o presidente Campello conduza a embarcação com mais segurança e tranquilidade. Manifesto apoio a Alexandre Campello e declaro estar à disposição para usar meus 55 anos de Vasco a seu favor. A situação está difícil, precisamos esquecer o lado pessoal. Pensar no Vasco. Remar juntos em uma única direção. Carregamos um histórico de união e construção de vitórias memoráveis, São Januário é símbolo disso”

Outro movimento que tem um bom número no Conselho é a “Sempre Vasco”, liderada por Julio Brant, que divulgou uma nota na madrugada de sábado para domingo, revelando que Campello não quer a ajuda do grupo. Confira um trecho:

“Nos últimos dias, pessoas em quem confiamos, informaram que Alexandre Campello não quer a ajuda da Sempre Vasco. Independente do que ele dirá ao público, estamos trabalhando para construir soluções para o impasse político, recuperação da credibilidade do mercado e da confiança da torcida vascaína. Sem milagres, sem promessas, sem vaidades, mas conscientes de que devemos combater a grave crise moral que corrói por dentro o Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama.

Não tomaremos decisões atrás de espaço, cargos e interesses pessoais. Se há uma esperança, é dela que o Vasco precisa e serão os vascaínos que irão reerguer o clube, que irão virar esse jogo, como sempre foi em sua centenária história”
