A tática montada pelo técnico João Brigatti foi impecável nesta noite de terça-feira. A Ponte Preta sofreu poucos perigos de gol, foi efetiva no ataque e aplicou 4 a 0 no Paysandu, na Curuzu, em Belém do Pará, pela 20ª rodada do Brasileirão, da Série B. Hyuri, Nathan e Júnior Santos, duas vezes, fizeram os gols da Macaca. O triunfo encerrou a sequência negativa dos campineiros na competição.

Com o resultado, a Ponte Preta subiu quatro posições na tabela de classificação, indo para à sexta posição, com 29 pontos. O Paysandu reconheceu sua segunda derrota seguida e soma 24, na 11ª colocação.

PRIMEIRO CHUTE E É GOL
O Paysandu foi quem começou pressionando e jogando no campo da Ponte Preta, mas a Macaca aproveitou o vacilo da zaga para abrir o marcador em sua primeira finalização, aos 16 minutos.Nathan pegou a sobra de bola e chutou com muito estilo de fora da área.

OBJETIVO
Depois do gol, o Papão da Curuzu diminuiu o ritmo, mas continuou no ataque para tentar buscar o empate. Entretanto, a tática montada pelo técnico João Brigatti estava impecável. Em mais um contra-ataque, a Ponte ampliou, aos 34 minutos, com Júnior Santos, que bateu de primeira, após passe de André Luís, e marcou o segundo.

VIROU PASSEIO
No início da segunda etapa, a Ponte Preta voltou sem alterações e a mesma forma de jogo. O bom toque de bola permaneceu, até que saiu o terceiro da noite. Júnior Santos, novamente, balançou as redes, aos três minutos. A partir daí, a equipe da casa, visivelmente nervosa e sem organização, acabou sofrendo o quarto, com Hyuri, aos 16, e praticamente, entregou os pontos.

SÓ ESPEROU O TEMPO PASSAR
Depois do quarto gol, o Paysandu que já estava praticamente abatido, não conseguiu acertar mais nenhuma jogada. Além disso, a torcida que antes apoiava, começou a vaiar o time, complicando ainda mais a situação. Com isso, a Ponte Preta se aproveitou para controlar o resultado.

PRÓXIMOS COMPROMISSOS
Na próxima rodada, a Ponte Preta encara o Criciúma, às 21h30, no Moisés Lucarelli, na terça-feira. O Paysandu enfrenta o Londrina, às 19h15, na sexta-feira, no Estádio do Café, Paraná.

O autor do gol do Flamengo sobre o Vitória, o meia Diego, não saiu tão contente do Maracanã, após realização da partida nesta quinta-feira, pelo Campeonato Brasileiro, nesta quinta-feira. O jogador criticou de forma incisiva o estado do gramado do estádio.

– Sinceramente, o gramado do Maracanã é horrível, um dos piores da Série A do Brasileirão. Hoje mesmo o Marlos perdeu um gol por causa dele. As vezes o Cuéllar erra um domínio e é por causa do campo. Claro que aqui joga o Flamengo e o Fluminense, mas precisam encontrar uma solução para isso. Não pode continuar assim – reclamou o atleta.

O próximo desafio do rubro-negro será contra o América-MG, no domingo, às 16h, no Independência, pela 21ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Flamengo pontua 40, com o resultado positivo desta quinta-feira.

I would like to announce my retirement from international and domestic first-class cricket. It is 16 years since I played my first Test match for India and today I feel it is time to move on. Once I was like every other boy in India, with a dream of playing for my country. Yet I could never have imagined a journey so long and so fulfilling.No dream is ever chased alone. As I look back, I have many people to thank for teaching me and believing in me. My junior coaches in Bangalore and at various junior national camps inculcated in me a powerful love of the game, which has always stayed with me. My coaches at the international level have added to my craft and helped shape my personality. The physios and trainers worked hard to keep me fit – not an easy job – and allowed me to play late into my 30s.The selectors, who rarely receive any credit in India, occasionally had more confidence in me than I had in myself and I am grateful for that. The various captains I played under offered me guidance and inspired me.The media has been kind to me and I have respect for their craft.The KSCA and BCCI have provided me a platform and the facilities to play the game.Most of all I have to thank the teams I played with. I was lucky in my early years to play for a Karnataka team that was trying to forge itself into a strong side and they were years of fun and learning. In the Indian team, I was fortunate to be part of a wonderful era when India played some of its finest cricket at home and abroad. Many of my teammates have become legends, not just in India but in the wider cricketing world. I admired them, learnt from them and I leave the game with wonderful memories and strong friendships. It is a great gift to have.A career in sport is almost impossible to manage without the support, and guidance, and reassurance of family and friends. During tough times, and there always are, this is whom we go to. I found strength and encouragement from my parents and brother and they created around me a positive environment which was essential to my success.My wife, Vijeeta, has been a remarkable partner in my journey. She has made sacrifices in her own career and has almost been a single parent as she brought up our children alone as I travelled abroad to play. Whenever challenges appeared, she was always there, as sounding board, as ally and as guide. Being away from my family became harder and harder through the years and I look forward now to spending time at home and doing the simple things, like just taking my sons to school.Finally I would like to thank the Indian cricket fan, both here and across the world. The game is lucky to have you and I have been lucky to play before you. To represent India, and thus to represent you, has been a privilege and one which I have always taken seriously. My approach to cricket has been reasonably simple: it was about giving everything to the team, it was about playing with dignity and it was about upholding the spirit of the game. I hope I have done some of that. I have failed at times, but I have never stopped trying. It is why I leave with sadness but also with pride.

Lancashire, the reigning county champions, lost almost £4 million in 2011, reflecting the ongoing costs of redeveloping Old Trafford. The club’s annual report included a loss of £1.8m in “accelerated depreciation” to account for assets demolished as part of the rebuilding, and more than half a million in legal fees in challenging a judicial review.The figure of £3.96m sets a new record deficit by a first-class English county, beating by some distance the £2.1m losses recorded by Lancashire and Warwickshire last year. However, Lancashire said the The Point, the eye-catching but controversial conference centre opened in 2010, had started to drive revenue, with operating profit increasing by more than £700,000 on the forecast, after the “exceptional costs” were accounted for.The development work, which will see £40m spent on upgrades, also encompasses new grandstands, player and media facilities being grafted on to Old Trafford, as well as work on a new pavilion, scheduled to open ahead of the 2013 season, when Lancashire are due to host Test cricket again for the first time since 2009.Lee Morgan, Lancashire’s finance and operations director, said: “The nature of this result is a continuing reflection of the difficulties faced with building a new stadium on an existing site. However, despite the difficulties faced we are still very much on course to achieve our goals and ultimately return to a vibrant and profitable cricket club and start to fulfil the potential that all at the club believe we are capable of.”

Longe da briga pela titularidade no primeiro semestre, Luan recuperou terreno no Palmeiras. Desde a chegada de Luiz Felipe Scolari, ele tem formado a dupla de zaga “B” com Gustavo Gómez e é parte importante para o bom momento defensivo no Verdão.

Reforço badalado em 2017, o camisa 13 não caiu nas graças de Roger Machado. Depois de ser titular no primeiro jogo-treino do ano, tornou-se a quarta opção, atrás de Antônio Carlos, Edu Dracena e Thiago Martins, que deixou o clube. Agora usado mais frequência, Luan já é tido por Felipão como um dos principais defensores do Brasil.

– Quando a gente chega recebe uma série de informações que muitas vezes não são as que o técnico no dia a dia vai conhecendo. Quando eu cheguei no clube tinha alguma informação de que o Luan é marcado um pouco pela torcida. Mas não tem zagueiro no Brasil igual ao Luan. Muito bom. Muito bom – exaltou o comandante.

O zagueiro tem aproveitado o rodízio feito por Scolari durante as disputas de Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil e Libertadores, diferente do antecessor, que evitava mudar tanto a equipe. Dos 44 jogos com Roger, Luan foi usado sete vezes. Nos sete jogos com Felipão, foi titular em quatro.

– Precisa colocar o Luan para jogar e precisa dar ao Luan a estabilidade que ele merece. E só jogando e alternando para que a gente possa olhar e fazer o elogio que eu faço hoje de alguns jogadores. O Luan é um – justificou o treinador.

Ainda que esteja jogando na equipe considerada alternativa, o ex-jogador do Vasco tem ido bem ao lado de Gómez, e a dupla tem participação na sequência de nove jogos do Palmeiras sem sofrer gols. É a segunda maior série na história do clube com a meta invicta, atrás apenas de 1987, quando foram 12 jogos sem levar gols.

Contra o Cerro Porteño (PAR), Luan deve começar no banco de reservas, mas voltará a jogar em breve. Ao menos, o desempenho se aproxima do currículo do zagueiro de 25 anos, parte da campanha da Seleção no ouro olímpico na Rio-2016 e contratado por R$ 10 milhões depois de ser tratado como uma das maiores revelações nos últimos anos do Vasco.

O time sub-17 do São Paulo fez 2 a 0 no Suwon Samsung, da Coreia do Sul,e conquistou a J League Challeng Cup em Osaka, no Japão. Os gols do título foram marcados por Fasson e Vitinho.

Vitinho, por sinal, foi o artilheiro da competição com sete gols marcados. O meia-atacante Antony ganhou o troféu de craque do torneio. Ele já tem 18 anos e integra a equipe sub-20 nesta temporada, mas foi ao Japão porque o regulamento permitia a exceção.

– Muito feliz com mais um título com a camisa do São Paulo e também pelo prêmio de melhor jogador. Todos estão de parabéns por essa conquista. Foi uma experiência muito proveitosa para todos nós – disse Antony, autor de quatro gols na J League.

A J League Challenge Cup é organizada pela liga japonesa de futebol, e na edição 2018 reuniu grandes equipes do futebol local e três times estrangeiros. Além do Tricolor, o Real Sociedad (Espanha) e o Suwon Samsung (Coreia do Sul) participaram como times de fora do Japão. Já Kashima Antleres, Machida Zelvia, Shonan Bellmare, Gamba Osaka, Oita Trinita, Cerezo Osaka e Ventforet Kofu representaram o país-sede.

Os são-paulinos chegam ao Brasil na próxima quarta-feira, quando voltam o foco para a disputa do Campeonato Paulista. O Tricolor é líder do grupo 18, com quatro pontos em duas partidas. Yorkshire are close to a deal with Mitchell Starc, Australia’s up-and-coming fast bowler, as their coach, Jason Gillespie acts to strengthen the club’s pace bowling resources after an indifferent start to their Division Two campaign.It took Gillespie just one Championship match to decide that Yorkshire needed an overseas fast bowler if they are to regain their Division One status at the first time of asking. Although Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire’s director of cricket, said there was “nothing definite”, discussions are well advanced over Starc’s arrival at Headingley.Starc, a left-arm quick capped three times at Test level, is with the Australia squad in the West Indies but he has not been selected for the first two Tests. He was also omitted from Australia’s party for the preceding one-day series and so could be bursting for some cricket when the final Test ends in Dominica on April 27.Gillespie needs no reminding of Headingley’s reputation for favouring swing bowlers and Starc, 22, is eager to hone his skills in swinging the ball after benefiting early in the New Year from some guidance from the former Pakistan allrounder, Wasim Akram. Whether Yorkshire, deep in debt, can afford him, however, remains to be seen.Moxon said: “We are looking at a few options and I’m hoping that something might happen in the next few days. At the moment, however, we’ve got nothing definite. The problem with trying to sign an overseas player is that the process, invariably, is never straightforward.”It was in our thoughts anyway to look for an overseas player, but I think that has been probably stepped up a bit after the first game. We weren’t at our best with the ball against Kent. The lads are working hard and trying very hard, but we have struggled to maintain that pressure with the ball.”Starc’s Australian representatives would not confirm negotiations, but the 5 Oceans Management website is clear that he is eager for an opportunity after an inactive Caribbean tour, stating: “Unfortunately Mitchell has not been required in a game yet, but he is keeping very fit, constantly training hard in the nets and learning new skills around the Australian team. Hopefully an opportunity presents itself soon, as Mitchell is sure to take it with both hands.”It was a ninth-wicket stand of 153 between Kent’s Matt Coles, who made a maiden first-class hundred, and Mark Davies that convinced Yorkshire that for all their financial woes they would have to act. Another problematic game against Leeds/Bradford MCCU, which at one stage Yorkshire looked like losing, added to the county’s fears.Iain Wardlaw, who struggled against Kent, is likely to be replaced by Steve Patterson as Yorkshire reshuffle their pace attack against Essex at Headingley on Thursday.
