Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad is likely to recover in time from a minor ankle injury to take the field against Zimbabwe on March 1. A PCB release said that Shehzad had “complained of acute pain in the region of the left Achilles’ tendon during a fielding training session” on Thursday.However, Brad Robinson, the team physiotherapist, confirmed that scans showed no serious damage. “Ahmed had an MRI in Brisbane this morning. The results showed a slight retrocalcaneal bursitis (inflammed bursa) between the Achilles’ tendon and the calcaneus (heel bone). The Achilles’ tendon was intact and undamaged. As the tendon is not involved I am confident he will be available to play against Zimbabwe on the March 1,” Robinson said.”Ahmed is receiving the appropriate treatment involving regular ice therapy, topical and oral anti-inflammatory medication and a heel-raise to offload the area. An ultrasound guided injection is not advised at this stage as he would require a four-day rest period following such an infiltration. He will be closely monitored over the next week”Shehzad has had an ordinary outing so far, with just 48 runs from two matches, but his availability will nonetheless come as a boost to a Pakistan side struggling for confidence and currently rooted to the bottom of Pool B.

كشفت صحيفة “ديلي تيليجراف” البريطانية عن اهتمام قوي من جانب بعض الأندية في الدوري السعودي من أجل ضم كل من جادون سانشو وريتشارليسون في يناير المقبل.

ويعاني سانشو في الفترة الأخيرة من استبعاد دائم من مباريات مانشستر يونايتد، بعد الدخول في مشادة كلامية مع المدرب، إريك تين هاج، عبر وسائل الإعلام.

وأصبح في حكم المؤكد أن اللاعب الإنجليزي سيغادر مانشستر يونايتد طالما المدرب الهولندي متواجدًا مع مانشستر يونايتد.

ومع عدم وضوح الرؤية حول صفقات أخرى قوية مثل محمد صلاح وسون هيونج مين وكيفن دي بروين وإمكانية انتقالهم إلى السعودية.

دخل اسم سانشو وكذلك ريتشارليسون على رادار الأندية السعودية، بحسب التقرير، خاصة مع وجود اهتمام من قبل اتحاد جدة بضم البرازيلي.

مستقبل ريتشارليسون متشابه مع سانشو، حيث فقط البرازيلي مكانه في توتنهام بسبب سوء المستوى لصالح زميله، برينان جونسون، ومع غياب الأول بسبب الإصابة وعملية جراحية قد يكون استمراره في خطر.

One of the last executive board meetings of the Asian Cricket Council ended in Dubai on Tuesday with talks held over the staff’s compensation and how it will function after June 30. CEO Syed Ashraful Huq’s association with the ACC will also end, having been with the organisation from its first day of operation in 1983.The financial committee, headed by N Srinivasan, and the executive board held their meetings in Dubai and the final gathering of the ACC members will be at the annual general meeting to be held in Kuala Lumpur in early June.”In this meeting we discussed the reorganisation and found out more about the winding down process,” Huq said. “We will operate out of Kuala Lumpur till June 30. ACC won’t be renamed but now there will be another organisation called the ACC Events which will work out of Singapore.”Our AGM will be held in Kuala Lumpur in June. I am heading there and we will decide a date very soon. We will try to set a date that is well before the ICC annual conference which begins on June 22 in Barbados.”Discussions were mainly about how the staff will be remunerated as the office in Kuala Lumpur will be closed off. “We are also giving adequate staff compensation. It is not extraordinary but it is not a bad package,” Huq said.Some of the staff will be heading over to the ICC, including ACC coaches like Aminul Islam, the former Bangladesh captain, and Venkatapathy Raju.”It will have a very skeletal office in Singapore with only two people working there. Bandula and Ganesh Sundarammoorthy will work out of ICC’s Dubai office. Aminul Islam Bulbul, Rumesh Ratnayake, Iqbal Sikander and Venkatapathy Raju will also work for ICC from July 1,” Huq said.Huq himself will take stock of his future as an organiser having spent three decades with the ACC. A former general secretary of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Huq was present during the formative days of the ACC and has worked in various positions.”I have been associated with the ACC for 32 years. I was there from the first day, September 19, 1983. I was a joint secretary, administrative officer, secretary and finally the CEO. In the meeting, they were nice enough to tell me that a CEO wouldn’t have any role in a two-man office. I am not sure if I will be back in Dhaka for good but I will go there from time to time.

Late drama turned a one-sided canter into a last-ball finish, but Rajasthan Royals, the team that had dominated 95% of the contest, won in the end and preserved their perfect record for the season. Two Mumbai bowlers set it up for Royals: Dhawal Kulkarni struck twice with the new ball to peg Sunrisers back early, and Pravin Tambe removed both Naman Ojha and Eoin Morgan after they had staged a recovery of sorts with a 52-run fourth-wicket partnership. The Sunrisers innings didn’t take off at all after that, and a target of 128 should never have tested Royals’ batting line-up.But somehow, it did. For 18 overs, Royals made serene progress. And then, with 12 to get from 12 balls, the nerves set in. The half-centurion Ajinkya Rahane was bowled slogging at Trent Boult when Royals needed 10 off 9. The first four balls of Praveen Kumar’s final over produced two inch-perfect yorkers, a near run-out, and a leg bye. With two to get from two balls, Stuart Binny drove Praveen to long-off to level the scores. On strike came James Faulkner, among the best finishers in the game. The keeper came up, the field came in to save the single. Looking for another yorker, Praveen sent down a low full-toss. Faulkner, making himself room, carved it away to the cover point boundary.Both Rahane and Sanju Samson played and missed against the new ball, and both survived close calls – Trent Boult seemed to trap Rahane plumb in front with a perfect left-armer’s inswinger, only for the umpire to rule it not out, and Ashish Reddy dropped a tough chance off Samson when he miscued a pull off Praveen Kumar – but they kept chipping away at the target in a first-wicket partnership of 64. Steven Smith went early, for once, and Ravi Bopara picked up two wickets in a constricting spell of medium-paced cutters, but Rahane changed gears at just the right time for Royals.Rahane sent a square cut off Bopara screaming away to the right of third man, and charged him in his next over to chip him wristily to the wide long-on boundary. A pulled four off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 18th over took him to 59, and left Royals 15 to get from 15 balls with seven wickets in hand. It should have been a stroll, but such is the nature of Twenty20 that they nearly lost it from there.The pitch in Visakhapatnam was on the slow side, and there was plenty of grip on offer for anyone who bowled spin or medium-paced cutters. Tambe’s wicket of Ojha illustrated this perfectly. After drifting into a line just outside leg stump, a quickish legbreak spun past the outside edge and crashed into middle stump. Tambe nearly had Morgan stumped off a googly in his next over, but Samson didn’t have to fret over his muffed effort behind the stumps for too long. Picking the wrong length to a reverse-sweep, Morgan was lbw next ball, a quicker, flatter googly from Tambe hitting his pad almost on the half-volley.With two set batsmen dismissed, Sunrisers only managed a modest amount of acceleration towards the end of their innings, with Ravi Bopara and Ashish Reddy biffing 31 off the last 21 balls.Having been put in to bat, Sunrisers had a mixed start from their openers. Shikhar Dhawan survived a nervy first over against Tim Southee’s swing, and saw an outside edge fall just short of Smith at slip, and soon edged Kulkarni behind to fall for 10. David Warner, though, seemed to be carrying on from where he had left off against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He smacked three fours off Chris Morris off the first four balls he faced, and carved Southee for a big six over point.Just when he looked like he might hurt Royals with a big innings, he was run out going for a misjudged single. He bowled three successive dot balls in the end with Piyush Chawla swinging aimlessly, as Mumbai Indians won by five runs at the Wankhede Stadium.While Mumbai moved into the top four with the win, Knight Riders could have confirmed a spot in the playoffs with a victory, but they went off track in the last five overs.Fifty runs were needed off the last five overs but Yusuf Pathan’s half-century had reduced it down to 12 off the final over. But he fell off the first ball to Pollard and although Umesh Yadav struck a four next ball, Chawla failed to connect with the ball as he kept swinging across the line.All Mumbai bowlers, except Hardik Pandya, took a wicket each. Pandya had earlier played a superb innings to keep Mumbai in the game by propelling them to 171 for 4. Mumbai’s innings derived most of its strength from the 92-run unbroken stand between Pollard and Pandya for the fifth wicket. The pair got together at the loss of Rohit in the 12th over, and accelerated with 72 runs in the last five overs.Pandya smashed two sixes over midwicket and eight fours in his unbeaten 31-ball 61.
